I’m a waitress at a fine dining restaurant. I am expected to be courteous, polite, and accommodating at all times, even if my patrons are intoxicated, rude, or disruptive. I smile and nod and acquiesce to every command or expectation but some times enough is enough. Today was one of those days I…
Wow this should not be tolerated at ANY service restaurant. This is, in fact, harassment and is against the law. You should never have to put up with a customer like this. I had a customer put his hand on me once, he was never let into our establishment again. We ARE NOT pieces of meat, servants or below any one. We are humans who deserve the same respect we give drunken fools.

steggiec asked: I'm not a server, I just work in fast food, but I sympathize with servers in terms of tips. I always always always tip 15-20%, because that's what my parents taught me. If it was really bad service I never go lower than 15% even though they sometimes do 10. Usually though I will calculate 20% and round up or down for the full dollar amount as long as it doesn't go below the 15% mark (makes it easier on my wallet and my head calculations). What would you recommend the tipping percentage range be?
Thank you for tipping your servers even if they aren’t amazing, first of all. Second, to answer your question, I always say 15% is a good measure. Like you said you can always give more if they do really well. The most important thing is to tip regardless because we end up giving a portion of our tips to someone else in the end (that may have worked harder for you than us!). :)

No Tip Because I Forgot to Check The Prices - If You Can't Afford To Tip... →
Just another example of how SERVICE should reflect the tip. Just because you don’t like the prices doesn’t mean anything to me. Don’t eat at a restaurant if you aren’t willing to pay & tip.

You tip your server based on how THEY serve you. Punishing your server because the kitchen takes longer than you like is not okay. Especially don’t do this when your server apologizes or gives you anything for free because of your wait. “Faster cooks” is not a reason for such an awful, insulting tip.

Our waiter tonight was half Mexican and half Korean. He likes to give himself a hard time so he told us “his laundry and his yard look fantastic”
Servers: a good sense of humor goes a long way!!

I thought I’d have some fun with this one. Servers are not psychics. Servers are in fact normal human beings who do not know about your obsession with mustard on your steak or the fact that you need 700 napkins. There is thing I tell my children: USE YOUR WORDS. :)
